AMD: South African Aerospace Maritime & Defence Industries Association

The Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Industries Association of South Africa, AMD, is widely acknowledged as South Africa’s Defence Industry trade association and is mandated by its members to promote and champion the collective interests of the South African defence industry (SADI)

AMD represents SADI, comprising of a cluster of leading edge companies within the South African private and public sector that are engaged in industrial and trade processes of defence material, related products and services.

AMD assists and provides guidance in harnessing the collective effort of the SADI as these companies play a key role in the acquisition supply chain ensuring that cost effective and sustainable solutions are offered to its broad client base that meets the most stringend technical requirements that are comparable and where possible exceed international standards.

Its member companies supply products and services to the DOD, Government organizations and other contractors, either locally or internationally, within the defence and security marketplace. As SADI is one of the cornerstones of a stable and growing South African economy, AMD is responsible in ensuring that a world class indigenous defence industry capability is maintained in a sustainable manner. Providing high tech solutions at competitive prices is a constant requirement to secure export orders which in turn leads to local skills development, job retention and job creation also assisting the South African government in executing its foreign policy and agreed upon international responsibilities in the region and African continent.
