Aerospace Training
Academy of South Africa (ATASA)
ATASA is a
private aerospace training
academy that trains students for a
broad range of careers in aviation,
from ground and flight attendants
through to aviation safety
personnel and technical personnel
for MRO activities. They offer short
courses that range in duration
from a few days to a few weeks as
well as full duration
apprenticeships and typecertification.

Flight schools
Studying and training to become a
pilot is expensive. However, SAA
does provide a cadet training
programme, as does the SAAF,
but there is tough competition for
places in these programmes.

South African Air Force (SAAF)
The SAAF offers opportunities
(and training) for aspirant pilots, air
space controllers, engineering
technicians and a host of other
aerospace-related careers.

Colleges and Universities of Technology
Qualifications offered by technical
colleges and universities of
technology offer an alternative
entry into engineering careers,
through National Diplomas and B
Tech degrees. Relevant options
include studying electrical
engineering technology,
communications infrastructure, or
mechanical engineering
technology, which may lead to
careers in aircraft MRO.
