State-owned defence industrial group Denel is today a very different entity to what it was two years ago when Shaun Liebenberg was appointed CEO with the mission of refloating the then effectively insolvent operation. The group had a net loss of R1,67-billion in financial year (FY) 2005, which declined only slightly to R1,36-billion in FY 2006. |

Reutech demonstrates latest radar capabilities |
| Reutech Radar Systems has demonstrated its new X-band air/sea surveillance radar, the RSR 210N, as a low-cost, fully navalised, new-generation 2-D pulse Doppler radar.
Trials conducted in February demonstrated the RSR 210N's ability to be used in the surveillance role, with detection ranges of beyond 40 km, as a self-defence anti-air sensor and as a helicopter control radar. |

With the all the necessary approvals received, including South African Reserve Bank authorisation this week, Saab's acquisition of Denel Saab Aerostructures Pty Limited is now concluded. This transaction follows from an agreement signed with Saab AB (publ) in Sweden on 15 June 2006 regarding the establishment of a new incorporated aerostructures company in which Saab would be holding an initial equity of 20% with the remainder equity being retained by Denel (Pty) Ltd. |
